More about this coffee: This coffee comes from smallholder farmers in Chicomuselo, Chiapas who contribute Caturra and Mundo Novo varieties to this lot. Navegante is put together by our export/producer partners E-Cafe Chiapas who operate a private school with the profits of their coffee. As much as we love coffee, seeing how much good they do through the school made such an impression. They provide a safe place for children of the region to live and receive high quality education, with a very high rate of students being accepted into universities all over the world.
This is our first year working with the Navegante lot, which is taking the place of Finca Las Cascadas which we’ve had each of our first 3+ years at CCR, one of their farms who this year was unable to delivery ANY coffee to the mill due to safety concerns. We hope to see the farm come through this obstacle in the future because we love the coffee, but more importantly for the well-being of our friends. For the time being, we are happy to have found this high quality smallholder lot and to continue to support the group through growing the volume of their coffee we’re able to import each year.
